Midnight Musings: On Angst

I think I like angst as a genre in a story because it seems less real and more beautiful but still very much realistic.

In a tragedy or in a heartbreak, you don’t feel it; you analyse it, with words, with descriptions. The confusion is broken down into little tidbits that you start believing in them and begin to understand it; you start feeling that same angst being written out for you.

Writers who describe, portray, word out these details in angst make it sound so interesting. It makes us understand and empathise; it makes us scared of our own actual angst.

Fiction makes it reality’s angst seem less scarier.
